Description

• SCDOT proposes to replace the S-250 (Hester Store Road) bridge over Machine Creek in Pickens County, SC. The proposed bridge will consist of two twelve-foot travel lanes in each direction.

Purpose

• The purpose of the project is to provide a structurally safe and sound transportation route over Machine Creek that meets current design and safety standards.

Need

• Due to deterioration and poor conditions, the current bridge was closed to all traffic and needs to be replaced. The bridge was closed and demolished using state funds and temporary access was provided using state funds.

Status

• The bridge was closed in May 2026. Clearing is now complete, Erosion control devices have been installed and shoulder buildup is in progress. Est. completion May 2027.
