Roper Mountain Road Extension Improvements

Description

  • SCDOT Pin number 0041472
  • 3 lanes with curb, gutter, sidewalks, and bike lanes between Pelham Road and Roper Mountain Road
  • Project was bundled with the Roper Mountain Road Improvements Project during preliminary engineering and construction

Purpose

  • To increase capacity and accommodate existing and future traffic congestion
  • To improve left turn movements

Need

  • Growth in the area has caused traffic increases on the corridor
  • Current lane configuration causes traffic halts and slow downs when someone makes a left turn

Status

  • Final surface is placed. There is a communications utility conflict at the Ponders Bay intersection. Estimated completion is October 2024.
