Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Transportation Improvement Program, or TIP for short, is a short-range program that schedules projects to be funded in the next ten years. Projects are first included in the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and based on priorities established in the LRTP, they are moved into the TIP as funding becomes available. A project cannot appear in the TIP unless it is first included in the LRTP.

Projects included in the current TIP are scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2034. When projects are added to the TIP, they are prioritized based on area-wide needs and in accordance with SC Act 114. Projects included in the TIP typically are funded over several years, with funding allocated to the preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition, and construction phases.
