Roper Mountain Road Extension Improvements

Project Information

Description

  • SCDOT Pin number 0041472
  • 3 lanes with curb, gutter, sidewalks, and bike lanes between Pelham Road and Roper Mountain Road
  • Project was bundled with the Roper Mountain Road Improvements Project during preliminary engineering and construction

Purpose

  • To increase capacity and accommodate existing and future traffic congestion
  • To improve left turn movements

Need

  • Growth in the area has caused traffic increases on the corridor
  • Current lane configuration causes traffic halts and slow downs when someone makes a left turn

Status

  • Contractor has paved left of center line and is in preliminary stages of starting work on Phase I of new bridge.
  • Contractor has started construction of MSE wall.
  • Contractor is set to pave a temporary lane widening to accommodate phased bridge construction work
  • Completion date has been adjusted to 05/2023 due to utility delays
  • Drainage pipe installation continues and is around 40% complete on Roper Mountain Road Extension
  • Utility Relocation work delaying start of construction work
  • Charter and Century Link utility work continues on Roper Mountain Road Extension. Relocation completion is expected soon.
