S-164 Batesville Road Widening

Project Information

Description

  • SCDOT Pin number 0037686
  • Widen 2.2 miles of Batesville Road (S-164) to 3 lanes with curb, gutter, sidewalks, and bike lanes from SC-14 to Roper Mountain Road

Purpose

  • To improve safety along Batesville Road
  • To provide additional capacity and accommodate future traffic growth

Need

  • Due to growth in the area, the corridor is experiencing large increases in traffic
  • Batesville Road distributes traffic from surrounding residential areas to SC 14 and Woodruff Road

Status

  • This project has been extended to mid-October 2022 due to traffic signal material supply.
  • There have been some project delays; traffic signal material should be available in approximately 12 - 16 weeks. Right-of-way issues will also require an extra 8 - 12 weeks.
  • Construction began in the Pelham/SC14/Batesville Intersection
  • Project on final surface from Bridge to Roper Mountain Road.
  • Wall number two shoring complete
  • All dirt has been covered from bridge to end of project
  • If all goes to schedule, surface will be placed on main line from bridge to end of project by winter
  • Old Batesville bridge demolition has begun
